I'm reading Marty Makary's utterly depressing book "The Price We Pay: What Broke American Health Care--and How to Fix It" and I’d like to submit my own ridiculous healthcare bill. Why was my six-pound baby charged $1400 for room and board? That’s on top of the insane fee they charged the insurance for the very same room for me. Mind you, the nursery was closed due to Covid. $716 per night for a plastic bassinet, and I can tell you she didn’t spend more than 30 seconds in the thing before screaming her little lungs out.
I know this charge is just lip service for something else (or pure highway robbery) but what a farce…
