This new M. Ward song sounds like happiness from beat one, and it makes me want to dance around the streets of Paris in a faux fur coat, just like ultimate cool French girl Clémence Poésy .
Tune Tuesday: "Hell N Back," Bakar
I obviously like a retro throwback and I really like a song that involves whistling. Hence, I love this track from this British artist. So sweet, especially with lyrics like: “She had green eyes, like Mountain Dew.”
Tunes Tuesday: "Uncover the Gold," David Wax Museum
“Every day is a day/Every mountain just a small hill”
Trying to remember that right now. This band from Charlottesville wrote the most hopeful anthem for bad times (and the video is pretty sweet too). I would say we’re going to get through this, but David Wax Museum said it much more eloquently:
“Here’s my prayer for you/When the light is at its weakest
That you’ll find something true
That you will know life’s sweetness”
Tunes Tuesday: "Texas Sun," Khruangbin & Leon Bridges
I always wonder if my neighbors can hear my music and if so, do they have complaints about the same song playing over and over for 3 hours at a time while I work? They couldn’t about this song. It’s perfection. Leon’s voice (that spoken word interlude!), the lyrics, the wail of the pedal steel guitar, all of it.
“Texas Sun. I wanted to capture a vibe that embodies the essence of Texas,” Bridges told Texas Monthly about the origins of the song. Do we ever need some sunshine now.
Tunes Tuesday: "No Quit," Michael Nau
This is my kind of easy listening. What a groove. When Nau sings over the fuzz: “Going over and over and over/To get closer to the start,” that’s my cue to drag the Youtube arrow back to the beginning.
Tunes Tuesday: "Don't Say That You Love Me," Jade Jackson
Just a little country twang with a perfect chorus to start off your week. In between music gigs, Jade Jackson is waiting tables at her family restaurant, according to the LA Times. If it were a perfect world, she’d be opening for Taylor already, right? Hopefully that will all come soon…
